Position Summary: This role is a crucial part of the fundraising team at YVC, working to ensure that our organization secures the revenue needed to support our mission and programs. You will work closely with the CEO and the Fund Development Manager.
Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) is a network of youth service programs around the world. We engage youth in team-based service experiences that build life and work skills while inspiring youth for a lifetime commitment to service. Over 350,000 youth have served with YVC since 1987. We currently operate in 30 cities, and YVC’s exciting expansion will result in growth to 20 additional cities by the end of 2026. Come and be a part of it!
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Grant writing (50%) – Identify private foundation and corporate grant opportunities. Generate revenue by writing and submitting letters of intent and high-quality grant proposals that clearly communicate how YVC’s mission, programs, and outcomes align with each funder’s priorities. Work with Director of Accounting to develop grant budgets as needed.
- Prospect Research (15%) – Complete online research of individuals, corporations, foundations, and governmental entities to identify prospective donors whose intent matches YVC’s mission.
- Donor cultivation and retention (10%)– Ensure that grant requirements and reporting deadlines are met. Maintain contact with donors through notes of gratitude, program updates, annual appeals, etc. Think creatively about ways to increase donor engagement.
- Administration (5%) – Track deadlines, fundraising goals, and outcomes. Utilize organization and technology skills to maintain YVC’s donor database.
- Strategy (5%) – strategize with the CEO and fundraising team to determine fundraising action plans that support YVC’s sustainability.
- Relationships (10%) - Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders who are important to YVC’s success.
- Summit (5%) - Assist with YVCHQ team effort to plan and implement YVC’s annual conference.
Qualifications:
- Fundraising or grant writing experience; other relevant writing experience may be considered
- Well-developed administrative skills including proactive communication and follow-through
- Familiarity with the landscape of regional and national grant makers is helpful but not mandatory
- Proficient and resourceful with technology and data management
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree a plus. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien

Reporting Roles: Will report to either the Fund Development Manager or directly to the CEO; no supervisory responsibility.
Compensation: This role is fulltime, exempt with an expectation of 40 hours per week. The anticipated starting salary range is $50,000-$62,000 and will be dependent upon experience and skillset. With results, there is room for upward mobility in title, responsibility, and salary.
Work Location: After an initial 90-day onboarding period, YVC employees earn the privilege to work remotely up to three days a week and in-office two days a week.
PTO: You’ll be given three weeks Paid Time Off during the first three years, then 4-6 weeks depending on tenure. You’ll also be off 14 days for paid holidays. This includes all staff having the full week between Christmas and New Years’ Day off each year.
