Position Summary:
The Grant Writer supports Broadway Dallas’ institutional fundraising efforts through the preparation and submission of grant proposals and reports. This role is responsible for crafting compelling narratives that align with Broadway Dallas’ mission to entertain, educate, and enrich Dallas.
Working in close collaboration with the Vice President of Development and development team members, the Grant Writer plays an integral role in achieving the organization’s contributed revenue goals, which exceed $5 million annually.
This detail-oriented, strong writer and strategic thinker will join and collaborate with a dynamic development team responsible for corporate, foundation, and individual giving. The position supports a growing grants program that has contributed significantly to Broadway Dallas’ expanding fundraising success in recent years.
Familiarity with Fair Park and its surrounding neighborhoods is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Draft, edit, finalize, and submit compelling Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) and full grant proposals for corporate, foundation, and government funders
- Collaborate with development and program staff to gather program data, budgets, and narrative content
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of all grant applications
- Tailor proposals to align with funder priorities and Broadway Dallas’ strategic goals
- Prepare interim and final grant reports in compliance with funder requirements
- Coordinate with development staff to track grant deadlines, submissions, and outcomes
- Assist development and financial/administrative staff in maintaining accurate grant records and documentation
- Support stewardship of institutional funders and compliance with funder policy and contract requirements
- Collaborate with internal staff to support the execution of a comprehensive grant pipeline and calendar
- Contribute to tracking up to approximately 30 grants annually, including applications and reports
- Provide regular updates for internal reporting on grant activity and progress
- Provide recommendations to strengthen institutional funding strategies
- Assist in refining case statements, program narratives, and positioning for funders
- Stay informed on trends and opportunities in arts and nonprofit funding
- Occasionally attend on-site meetings or events as needed
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned

Requirements
Requirements:
- Demonstrated success securing grants for nonprofit organizations, preferably in the arts and culture sector
- Impeccable writing, editing, and research skills with a demonstrated ability to craft compelling narratives
- Familiarity with institutional funding sources, including foundations, corporate giving, and government agencies
- Experience managing multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general grant management tools
- Understand and support the mission of Broadway Dallas and be able to articulate its impact to funders
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote setting
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and ability to complete assigned tasks
- As an independent contractor, must provide all supplies, equipment, services, travel costs and other necessary resources to meet the requirements of the position
- Hold a valid driver’s license and have regular access to a motor vehicle or other reliable means of transportation to and from the Music Hall and off-site events/meeting locations.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience writing grants for performing arts organizations
- Familiarity with the Dallas/North Texas funding landscape
- Demonstrated appreciation of musical theatre or the performing arts
