DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP

Position Overview
The Director of Membership is a results-oriented leader responsible for developing, executing, and evaluating comprehensive, year-round strategies for membership recruitment, retention, and engagement. This role leads the membership team to meet and exceed organizational goals while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
This individual will drive strategic initiatives, implement innovative solutions, and build strong community partnerships to expand our reach and impact across the council.
The Director of Membership:
Accountable for meeting or exceeding an annual membership recruitment and retention goals for girl and adult members in our council’s jurisdiction
Manages and provides leadership to the member experience team: directs, monitors, and evaluates employee performance, providing ongoing feedback; interviews and selects new hires; communicates goals to employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; addresses complaints and resolves problems; ensures employee training and development needs are met, etc.
Works with cross-functional team to determine and develop innovative techniques to ensure the effective delivery of recruitment, conversion and retention strategies
Ensures that recruitment strategies and plans are consistent with the philosophy and mission of Girl Scouting and the council’s overarching strategy
Expands and leverages strong relationships with key community leaders, families, organizations, schools, faith communities and business in efforts to identify partnering opportunities
*** Frequent travel within the council is required ***
The Qualified Candidate will have:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in leading teams, outside sales, marketing, or demonstrated success working with volunteers; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proven ability to lead through others, drive performance, and achieve ambitious goals
Dynamic business leader experienced in managing through others to achieve cross-functional results
Supervision, management and human resource skills
Demonstrated success in a sales or revenue-driven role
Previous non-profit experience preferred
