Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Montana (RMHC-EM) is seeking a Director of House Operations to oversee daily house operations and lead the family services team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring families receive compassionate, high-quality support while maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-run facility.
The Director of House Operations is instrumental in delivering on RMHC’s mission by creating a warm, organized, and responsive environment for guest families and community partners.
In this role, you would be responsible for:
House Operations & Guest Services
- Overseeing daily operations of the Ronald McDonald House to ensure a welcoming, safe, and well-maintained environment
- Supervising and supporting family services staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences
- Assisting with guest services as needed, including referrals, check-ins/outs, and guest support
- Serving as the point of contact for escalated guest concerns and ensuring adherence to house guidelines
- Maintaining strong communication with guest families and hospital partners
Facilities & Vendor Coordination
- Managing maintenance and repair of the house and grounds, including coordination with outside vendors
- Monitoring facility conditions and ensuring a clean, organized, and professional environment
- Performing light hands-on tasks as needed to maintain house standards
Team Leadership & Administration
- Supervising staff schedules, coverage, and performance, including annual evaluations
- Providing training, guidance, and ongoing communication to ensure consistent operations
- Monitoring and auditing guest records and database accuracy
- Managing the house operations budget and tracking expenses
Program Support & Compliance
- Supporting Medicaid transportation program processes, including reimbursement tracking
- Ensuring accurate documentation of guest stays and donations
- Coordinating in-kind donations and ensuring proper tracking and processing
Volunteer Coordination
- Supporting volunteer onboarding, training, and engagement
- Identifying gaps in volunteer coverage and improving the volunteer experience

- 3–5 years of experience leading staff in a customer-facing or service-oriented environment
- Demonstrated ability to create a high-touch, supportive experience for diverse populations
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities with organization and attention to detail
- Comfort working independently while also collaborating with a small, mission-driven team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
- A professional, compassionate, and adaptable approach to leadership
A combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and abilities will be considered.
Additional Information:
- This position reports to the Executive Director
- Full-time, exempt position
- Work is based onsite in Billings, Montana
- Schedule may include occasional evenings, weekends, or off-shift coverage as needed
- Role includes a mix of administrative, supervisory, and light physical duties (e.g., lifting up to 15 lbs)
