Description
Assists with program activities that support employer, faculty and student career relationships. Creates and develops department marketing activities on and off campus, to engage with employers. Maintains existing employer relationships and cultivates new partnerships. Coordinates job development activities/events. Serves as liaison to the College of Business Administration for various programs and employer introductions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as the liaison to one or more academic colleges for various programming and employer introductions.
Articulates, advocates and assists with internship opportunities in partnership with faculty and academic units for students.
Advises employer representatives in developing and implementing effective college recruitment strategies at CMU.
Collaborates with and represents the Career Development Center in partnership with various departments across campus, as assigned by the Associate Director of Employer Relations.
Participates in corporate site visits to promote hiring of CMU students and strengthens employer relations.
Markets services and programs to current and prospective students, parents, employer representatives, faculty, administrators, staff, and alumni.
Actively participates in campus, community, state, regional, and national associations.
Guides and supervises student leaders of student organizations, such as Alpha Kappa Psi and Beta Alpha Psi, in the planning and execution of career fair and networking events.
Assists with analysis, compiles, and disseminates statistical reports relating to employment trends and salary of CMU students.
Manages employer/recruiting database (Handshake) updates.
Coaching interns as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Two years of directly related professional experience.
Evidence of strong interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with multiple internal and external constituencies, a broad range of students and employers, and differing perspectives one may encounter in a wide range of work settings.
Strong verbal and written communication, coaching, social media and marketing skills.
Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and execute events; conduct classroom presentations, workshops, and programs.
Experience with website, mobile applications and virtual environments for job search, resume construction, interview preparation, on-line networking and recruiting systems.
Solid understanding of job market trends and projections.
Must be able to travel; work evenings and occasional weekends as required.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.
General knowledge of university curricula and higher education policies and procedures.
