Company Profile
Youth Volunteer Corps
Company Overview
At Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC), we believe that youth aren’t just the “leaders of tomorrow” - they are the changemakers of today. Since 1987, we’ve empowered over 300,000 YVC youth volunteers throughout the U.S., Canada, and Uganda to serve their local communities. Through YVC, youth ages 11-18 engage in team-based service experiences that build life and work skills while inspiring a lifetime ethic of service.
The headquarters of our international network of youth development programs is located in a beautifully restored home built in 1874 in the Quality Hill District of downtown Kansas City. Inside, you’ll find energy, enthusiasm, and loyalty to the idea that youth service can change the world. You will join a staff working hard toward a powerful mission while also having a lot of fun!
Company History
Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) began in 1987 as a summer service program for Kansas City youth. Today, YVC is a network of affiliated organizations across the U.S., Canada and Uganda running that same program by engaging youth ages 11-18 in team-based, structured, diverse, and flexible service-learning opportunities.
YVC affiliates are hosted by credible nonprofit organizations, hosted by YVC Headquarters directly, or are independent YVC programs. Affiliates include United Ways, YMCAs, Boys & Girls Clubs, schools, volunteer centers, parks and recreation departments, and other youth-serving organizations. Each YVC program looks a little different depending on the host organization and the local community, but they all implement the same program model and receive ongoing support and resources from YVC Headquarters.
