Job Summary:
Working in partnership with the Board of Directors, The Executive Director is responsible for overall management and operations while ensuring compliance with board directives, bylaws, federal, state, and applicable grantor requirements. This position is responsible for the continued development of the agency and its programming, public relations, fundraising, supervision of financial operations, grant writing, and grant management.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Strategic Vision and Leadership
Develops, with the board, the operational and business plans needed to support the mission, vision, and strategic plan.
Champions HOPE’s mission and values including the commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive organizational culture.
Provides leadership in developing strategies to keep the programs vibrant and responsive to changing community and regional needs.
Fosters shared leadership, inclusive decision-making, and positive relationships between the board, staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
Monitors local, state, and national trends related to mission-related issues, legislation, policies, and needs.
Management and Administration
Leads, manages, and develops staff. Works with leadership team members to implement personnel policies as approved by the board in a fair and equitable manner.
Ensures implementation of all board policies and nonprofit best practices.
Assures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Financial Planning and Oversight
Develops and manages the annual operating plan and budget consistent with board objectives, policies, and organization bylaws.
Provides financial oversight and ensures robust internal financial controls.
Advises the board and finance committee on financial needs and investment opportunities.
Tracks trends in earned and contributed revenue and suggests opportunities to grow revenue and reduce expenses.
Resource Development and Community Relations
Serve as a spokesperson for HOPE by representing HOPE at events and conferences within the community and at a state and national level; through professional associations, and by serving on committees and advisory groups.
Maintains relationships with a variety of civic, business, government, and community leaders who are vital to the success of the organization.
Develops and implements annual and multi-year fundraising plans to ensure robust contributed income to sustain organization objectives.
Develops and oversees philanthropic relationships, grant opportunities, and major fundraising campaigns.
Serves as a spokesperson for mission related issues in our community and actively engages in local and statewide advocacy efforts.
Board and Volunteer Engagement
Builds and maintains effective relationships with the Board of Directors
Keeps the board informed of organization activities, progress, and priorities.
Serves as a resource for board governance and development.
Cultivates, recruits, and motivates board members, committee members, and volunteers.
Fosters a positive organizational culture that attracts and retains volunteers.
Advises and supports activities of board committees.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree preferred (MHR, MSW, MPH or MBA).
At least five years of team management experience with a demonstrated track record of increasing leadership responsibilities.
Previous experience working with or in nonprofit organizations; experience in health-related environments a plus.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree preferred (MHR, MSW, MPH or MBA).
At least five years of team management experience with a demonstrated track record of increasing leadership responsibilities.
Previous experience working with or in nonprofit organizations; experience in health-related environments a plus.
Preferred Skills & Knowledge:
Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector.
Proven ability to adapt to a diverse setting and ability to work with individuals with varied interests and opinions to build a collaborative environment.
Demonstrated leadership skills setting strategic vision and implementation of vision.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
Strong communication skills including professional writing and public speaking.
Ability to use data for informed decision making as well as reporting to and engaging with partners.
Strong cultural competency, including the ability to work easily with high-risk populations, a diverse staff, governmental agencies, community members, community agencies, and donors.
Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
Experience with medical or clinic operations and familiarity with HIPPA requirements.
