Associate Director, Presidential Initiatives and Principal Gifts
Description
Are you seeking a new challenge where your skills as a project manager, strategist, and analyst will shine? University Advancement is searching for an Associate Director to join the Presidential Initiatives and Principal Gifts (PIPG) team in a role that will serve as a key partner in advancing the development of presidential and institutional priorities through thoughtful operational management, driving complex initiatives forward, and ensuring that bold institutional ideas are supported with care.
The Work: Our new colleague will partner closely with University Advancement leadership and colleagues, institutional leadership, faculty, friends of Dartmouth, and high-level donors as we bring together voices to explore, shape, and advance bold ideas in support of Presidential priorities. As a trusted thought partner to the Senior Vice President of University Advancement and the Senior Associate Director of PIPG, you will collaborate across campus to develop compelling, high-quality pitch materials that elevate new and emerging institutional priorities. Your project management expertise will be front and center as you help build and guide comprehensive project plans, timelines, and produce deliverables that move major institutional priorities and special initiatives from vision to execution. You will play a key role in preparing University Advancement colleagues for high-level strategic engagements, including meetings with academic leaders, high-touch volunteers, and focus groups. A collaborator at heart, you will serve as a vital liaison between Advancement and university-wide partners while helping to ensure alignment, clarity, and momentum in idea development. This is a dynamic, highly visible role offering meaningful collaboration across campus and beyond. University Advancement is fast-paced, mission-driven, and deeply connected to Dartmouth’s most inspirational priorities. Here, your work will not only support big ideas. You will help bring them to life.
Your Skills: As our newest team member, you will bring a bachelor’s degree and at least six years of progressively responsible experience within a complex organization. You are diplomatic, detail-oriented, and adaptable – someone who approaches challenges with curiosity and a solutions mindset. You take pride in building productive relationships and navigate those relationships with professionalism and sound judgment. You think strategically and are energized by complex timelines, multiple stakeholders, and evolving priorities. Your ability to translate big-picture goals into organized project plans and actionable steps will help our team and our presidential priorities move forward with momentum. Advancement work is both analytical and relational and requires technical skill, thoughtful stewardship of sensitive information, and the discretion to handle confidential matters with care. Strong analysis skills are required to take amorphous idea sets and bring them shape. A natural sense of curiosity and a desire to understand what motivates philanthropy will serve you well in this role. Our technology suite currently includes Microsoft Office, Anthropic AI, Advance, and Slack. Through a full onboarding plan created specifically for you in your new role, we will provide training in Advance and Slack if you join us without prior experience in these software applications. We do ask that you bring a strong understanding of components of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, PowerBI, and Word), as the ability to work with information, data sets, reporting, creating presentations, and managing various projects will be critical for team workflows. Fundraising and engagement work is impactful, fast-moving, and deeply rewarding. Your eagerness to learn, grow, and contribute to meaningful institutional priorities would make you an exciting member of our team.
Our Location: Dartmouth’s campus is located in Hanover, NH. This position offers the opportunity to work hybrid with a combination of onsite and remote work (the best of both worlds!) and we’re looking for someone within commuting distance.
