Description
This is a 28-hour/week part-time hourly position responsible for creating and stewarding The Friendship Center’s volunteer program to increase agency capacity and provide meaningful community engagement in our mission. An integral member of the development team, this role builds strong relationships with volunteers and staff, develops meaningful volunteer opportunities, and ensures volunteers feel valued, prepared, and connected to the impact of their service. Success in this role includes launching a structured volunteer program, increasing volunteer engagement and retention, and expanding community connection to TFC’s mission. This role works in a trauma-informed environment and is supported by organizational policies, training, and supervision to promote staff well-being.

Requirements
SPECIFIC DUTIES/MAJOR TASKS:
Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement
- Design and implement a comprehensive volunteer program including recruitment, training, coordination, recognition, evaluation, and compliance
- Develop systems and tools to support volunteer engagement and retention
- Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, fostering a welcoming and inclusive experience
Training & Support
- Design and facilitate volunteer orientations and ongoing trainings
- Provide clear role descriptions, expectations, and resources
- Offer regular check-ins, coaching, and recognition to support volunteer success and retention
Relationship Building & Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with staff, volunteers, and community
- Identify new and creative ways to connect with diverse audiences across our community
- Support stewardship efforts by sharing volunteer impact stories and collaborating with the development and communications teams
- Build a strong sense of community and connection among volunteers
- Plan and implement volunteer recognition and appreciation efforts
Administration, Compliance, & Other
- Maintain accurate volunteer records, time tracking, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and relevant regulations
- Evaluate volunteer programs and use data to improve systems and outcomes
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Proficiency with databases/volunteer management systems
Other Requirements
- Ability to completely understand and maintain strict adherence to confidentiality, safety procedures, and advocate privilege
- Must be able to perform physical labor as needed, such as setting up events and lifting supplies
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Possess a valid Montana driver’s license and automobile liability insurance
- Successful background check required
