The Children's Rights Society, Inc. is a not-for-profit legal services agency for children located in Goshen, New York. Our staff attorneys appear in the Orange County Family Court representing our clients in a range of cases including custody and visitation, family offenses, child welfare, juvenile delinquency and guardianship matters. This is a full-time position which involves interviewing and explaining the applicable law to children of all ages, conducting motion practice and in-court litigation including hearings and trials.
Reporting to the Chief Attorney, the Staff Attorney will handle a high volume of cases, conduct client interviews, draft motions and motion responses, and appear in Family Court on a daily basis. Training will be provided.
This is a full-time position with a 35 hour work week Monday –Friday between approximately 9:00 and 5:00pm. The position requires in-person court appearance and working from our office in Goshen, New York. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION.
Candidates must be licensed to practice in New York State or awaiting admission.You should have a demonstrated interest in family law, child advocacy and/or juvenile justice and 0 to 5 years of practice experience.
Successful candidates must be able to collaborate well with co-workers and opposing counsel, have excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with children in all age groups.Must be able to work with electronic files.
Salary range is $75,000 to $105,000 depending upon experience
