UNIT JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Director, Donor Relations conducts a variety of essential tasks as part of the Donor Relations team in the Office of Advancement at Chicago Booth. Reporting to the Director, Donor Relations, the Assistant Director is a critical source of support for the team and will manage or assist with several projects critical to a successful stewardship program.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the donor relations portion of the gift acknowledgement process, working collaboratively with the Dean’s Communications Manager and Office of Advancement colleagues to complete the process.
  • Work with the Gift Compliance team and Office of Advancement colleagues, to manage Booth’s pledge reminder process, including the auditing of reminder letters for accuracy and serving as the department’s main point of contact for donor questions.
  • Serve as a relationship manager for donors in various points of the stewardship cycle, as assigned by the Director.
  • With the support of the University Gift Acceptance and Agreements team, draft gift agreement documentation for Booth donors, including letters of gift, letters of direction, amendments, and recognition plans.
  • Manage the Gleacher Center donor wall donor spotlight features.
  • Maintain the current donor walls and named spaces on all Booth campuses domestically and internationally and work with the Director to develop action plans for new opportunities.
  • Work with other members of the Donor Relations team, manage a portion of the annual stewardship reporting process for student and faculty funds.
  • Work with the Director, Donor Relations, serve as a project manager for both stewardship working groups and individual stewardship plan management.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining honor rolls for print and electronic publications.
  • Maintain stewardship information in Griffin, the donor database of record.
  • Support the Donor Relations team on special projects as needed.


Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of two years of work experience in nonprofit management, advancement, donor relations, stewardship, alumni relations, or similar work required.
  • A strong commitment to customer service, proven track record of problem solving and the ability to manage multiple projects and relationships is required.
  • Excellent analytical skill and meticulous attention to detail required.
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, the internal workings of the University and the technology tools available to Chicago Booth staff required, including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point required.
  • Experience with a customer relationship management database required.
  • Ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting required.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills characterized by the ability to listen, to speak, and to write well required.
  • Ability to adapt to new programs in an emerging and changing environment required.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed required.
  • An interest in pursuing a career in development preferred.
  • Previous professional experience in stewardship or donor relations preferred
  • Experience with Ellucian Advance or Salesforce database preferred.
