Role summary A musician-educator who can conduct, teach vocal technique and theory, accompany at the piano, and help run the machine—so the Artistic Director can focus on top-level artistic work. You’ll lead sectionals and occasional full rehearsals, lead our theory and ear training programs, help with recruitment, and be concert-ready to step in on the podium.
Requirements
Artistic & Educational Lead Regional Rehearsals (including responsibility of Dublin at St. Raymond every Tuesday from 3:30-5:30) be prepared to conduct additional rehearsals or performances when assigned. Teach healthy vocal technique (breath, resonance, vowels/diction) and progressive music literacy (Kodály/solfège or Orff welcome). Piano accompanying for rehearsals, auditions, and sight-reading; assist with repertoire prep.
Administrative & Community Recruitment: assist with auditions, school/outreach events, and conversion to enrollment. Production: help with calendars, dress rehearsals, Feast/Christmas/Epiphany logistics, and Bell Spectacular interfaces. Family comms: timely updates to parents; reinforce attendance and performance expectations in line with the Handbook.
Child Safety & Compliance Complete national background check (ClearChecks) before working with choristers; re-screen every 2 years (annual if seasonal). Complete California Mandated Reporter Training within before start and every 2 years thereafter; maintain certificates on file. Follow GGBC Code of Conduct (two-adult/observable interactions; avoid one-on-one in private spaces; immediate reporting of concerns). Cooperate with any investigations as required.
Qualifications Bachelor’s (or higher) in Music/Choral Conducting/Music Ed (or equivalent professional experience). 2–3+ years conducting/teaching choirs (youth preferred). Strong conductor, confident pianist, excellent sight-reading/aural skills; demonstrable pedagogy for changing/treble voices. Clear communicator; calm classroom management; collaborative with staff/parent volunteers.

Target hours: School year rehearsals + concerts; additional hours during high season and camp. 3-10 hours per week during the school year.
