Description

Christopher Community, Inc. seeks a CFO to join our senior leadership team.  Christopher Community, Inc. (CCI) is a not-for-profit development and management company that assists low-and moderate-income families and seniors to secure suitable housing across Upstate New York. Christopher Community currently manages over 3,000 units and more than 100 buildings and administers Onondaga County’s Rental Assistance Program (Section 8) which serves over 1200 households. Our annual budget is approximately $4 million, and we employ close to 200 employees.

The CFO will set CCI financial policy and direction while being an active participant in, and driver of, the organization’s overall strategic goals. The CFO leads all financial administration, business planning and budgeting, and partners with the President on the overall strategic and operational responsibilities for Property Management, Housing Development and Special Housing Directors. Ensures the continued financial viability of CCI operational units through sound fiscal management.   Must be able to cultivate existing relationships with funders, investors, syndicators, and lenders as well as state housing finance monitoring agencies to secure and expand recurring revenue streams.  Identifies opportunities for CCI to leverage business strengths to take advantage of new opportunities and/or to address organizational challenges. 



Requirements

Our ideal candidate will be a strategic and collaborative leader and have a passion for our mission, residents, clients, and employees. The candidate will hold a BS Degree in finance, business, accounting, real estate development or related field; CPA or MBA Is preferred.   Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in development, planning, real-estate development, gathering and evaluating financial information is required.  NYS Valid Driver’s license is required.  Must have proven ability to make actionable recommendations to the President and BOD. Experience in the area of private and public debt financing and equity sources for typical affordable housing is preferred. Must have prior experience in finance, (accounting, budgeting control and reporting).  Low Income Housing Tax Credits preferred.  Prior supervisory experience is required with the ability to lead and direct.   Must be able to maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft office including Excel, Word, and Outlook is required.  Ability to learn and implement accounting software in a timely manner.  We offer an excellent compensation package to include a competitive salary and benefits and work-life balance.  EOE.
