Shape the Future of Health Equity: Systems Change Intern
Are you ready to move beyond the classroom and into the heart of Chicago’s public health movement? AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC) is looking for a creative, high-energy Systems Change Intern to join our mission-driven team.
This isn't just a "coffee and filing" internship. You’ll be on the front lines of our Housing Navigation Program, gaining hands-on experience in how housing policy, social work, and healthcare intersect to save lives.
Why you’ll love this role:
Real Impact: You won’t just watch; you’ll actively help Chicagoans navigate the housing system, conducting screenings that lead directly to stable homes.
Professional Mentorship: Work side-by-side with our Director of Systems Change and a team of experts who are passionate about advocacy and equity.
Skill Mastery: Level up your resume with technical training in CaseWorthy, data management, and professional communication that will make you a standout candidate for future roles in public health or policy.
Invaluable Networking: Connect with a wide web of partner agencies and service providers across the city.
What you’ll be doing:
Connecting People to Homes: Assist with housing screenings and referrals, serving as a vital link between clients and the resources they need.
Mastering the Data: Dive into the "behind-the-scenes" of non-profit success by managing quality assurance data and assisting with program audits.
Coordinating Change: Support the Systems Change Team in high-level program coordination and advocacy projects.
Learning the Field: Gain a deep, 360-degree understanding of HIV/AIDS prevention, housing policy, and the non-profit landscape.
The perks:
Stipend: While the role is unpaid, a stipend is available to help cover your costs!
Credit: We’ll work with your school to ensure you get the academic credit you deserve.
Training: Comprehensive, hands-on training that prepares you for a career in the field.
