The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) is a vital member of our Advancement team—working alongside Development, Marketing, and Advocacy to secure transformational support for the people and communities we serve.
This is more than a fundraising role. It’s an opportunity to connect generous hearts to meaningful impact.
As our MGO, you will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts of $5,000+ from individuals, foundations, corporations, and faith-based institutions. You’ll manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects, building authentic relationships that fuel Ascentria’s mission and expand what’s possible.
Pay Range: $85,000 – $120,000 annually
What You’ll Do
Donor Engagement & Relationship Building
Develop and actively manage a dynamic major gifts portfolio
Create personalized engagement strategies that inspire generosity
Prioritize new major donor acquisition and cultivation
Serve as a trusted partner to donors who want their giving to matter
Fundraising Strategy & Execution
Partner with leadership to implement a comprehensive major gifts strategy
Align fundraising priorities with organizational goals and emerging opportunities
Help shape the future of Advancement at Ascentria
Prospect Research & Qualification
Identify and qualify high-potential prospects through research and analysis
Build a sustainable pipeline that drives long-term growth
Solicitation & Storytelling
Craft compelling, customized proposals and presentations
Clearly articulate impact and opportunity in ways that move people to act
Donor Stewardship
Ensure timely, meaningful recognition
Deliver personalized impact reporting
Create lasting connections that inspire continued investment
Reporting & Accountability
Maintain accurate donor records
Provide regular progress updates and KPI tracking

Portfolio Development
Grow an actively managed portfolio from approximately 25 to 150 qualified prospects within 24 months
Revenue Goals
Secure $250,000+ annually in major gifts
Donor Engagement
Conduct 10–15 meaningful donor or professional advisor visits per month
Pipeline Growth
Add 50+ new qualified prospects annually
Stewardship Excellence
Ensure 100% of donors receive personalized follow-up and impact reporting
Strategic relationship builder who cultivates trust
Exceptional communicator—both written and verbal

Requirements
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree required (business, human services, or related field preferred)
5–7 years of proven success infundraising
Proficiency in donor management systems (Raise’s Edge, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office
Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed ambitious fundraising goals
