Description
The Major Gifts Officer at San Diego Opera identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards a portfolio of approximately 125 prospects and donors capable of making annual gifts of $5,000 - $25,000. This position also conceives of and oversees unique events and behind-the-scenes opportunities to steward and engage current and prospective donors. Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives and Philanthropy, the Major Gifts Officer works with a highly collaborative team to ensure that San Diego Opera has the resources to produce world-class opera for the benefit of our community. San Diego Opera currently requires four days working in office, with one day remote; weekend and evenings are required.
Requirements
The Major Gifts Officer will be passionate about the important role arts and cultural organizations play in community life and in the lives of individuals and will have a particular connection to and interest in opera as an art form. They will have a warm and appealing personality, outstanding written and spoken communication skills, be highly organized and collaborative, take initiative, attend to detail, and will persevere when faced with challenges. The Major Gifts Officer will thrive in a donor-centered environment and enjoy working on a small team where everyone works together to achieve goals. They will be able to travel to off-site meetings and events using personal or public transportation and to work evenings and weekends as required.
