Field Leading Faculty Positions
The George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis is searching for distinguished social work faculty members at the rank of full professor (with tenure). Outstanding scholars committed to transformative scholarship which advances social, health, economic, environmental and racial justice are being sought to fill faculty positions within the Brown School. We particularly encourage applications from individuals with expertise in one or more of the following priority areas aligned with the Brown School strategic plan, Driving Equity 2030: health policy, environmental policy, social welfare policy, child welfare, data science and biostatistics, global research, and community-driven science.
The Brown School is an outstanding, top-ranked school for interdisciplinary graduate (master’s and doctoral) studies in social work, public health and social policy. Sixteen faculty members have been inducted into the American Academy of Social Work & Social Welfare, and eight Brown School faculty members were recently identified as among the most influential scholars, internationally (Bass, Boyack, Ionnidis & John, 2021). Numerous resources support the Brown School community, including dedicated administrative support and leadership (Associate Deans for Faculty Affairs, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, Educational Programs and Global Programs). Expanded pre and post award teams support the significant external funding portfolio of the school and faculty. Further, numerous competitively funded centers elevate scientific capacity and strength within the school.
Set within Washington University in St. Louis and the greater St. Louis region, new professors will be encouraged to seek collaborations across the campuses (including Public Health, Medicine, Business, Law, Art & Architecture, Engineering and Arts & Sciences) and the broader St. Louis community. The chosen candidate will join a university committed to academic distinction, cutting edge scholarship, transdisciplinary and community collaboration and an educational mission aimed at social change. Additionally, the school’s community partnership committee has developed a robust, collaborative framework and relationships to help scholars engage in scholarship tied to impact. Additional resources, including the Clark Fox Policy Institute, are available to assist Brown School faculty in rapidly translating new knowledge into action.
Applications will be accepted until positions are filled, however priority will be given to applications received
before November 15, 2024. To apply for this position, please send a CV and brief cover letter to Trish Kohl, Chair, Personnel Advisory Committee (pkohl@wustl.edu).
