CCVLP is hiring a Family Law Program Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our Family Law Program. In this role, you’ll often be the first point of contact for clients, helping them understand their options, connect with services, and move forward with greater confidence. You’ll work closely with the Family Law Program Manager, volunteer attorneys, and community partners to ensure clients receive timely, thoughtful, and coordinated support.
The Job Title:
This position is titled “Program Assistant” to reflect its central role in client communication, service coordination, and program operations within the Family Law Program and in support of the Program Manager.
While this role does not require a legal background, it does require strong organizational skills, clear communication, and the ability to support individuals navigating complex systems. For the purposes of pay scale, this position is classified as a program assistant/paralegal in alignment with our Wage and Wage Factor policy.
About the Program:
CCVLP’s Family Law Program connects low-income individuals with volunteer attorneys for help with matters such as parenting plans, custody, and other family law issues. Many of the clients we serve are navigating overlapping challenges, including domestic violence, behavioral health concerns, and economic instability.
Our role is to ensure that clients are not navigating these systems alone. Through coordination, advocacy, and strong partnerships, we help clients move through the legal process with greater clarity, safety, and support.
It has been operating primarily with a staff of one (1) and supported by the Co-Executive Director of Family Law & Survivor Support. This position is an expansion of the team.

Position Overview
This is a part-time position (20 hours/week), with the potential to increase hours if additional funding becomes available.
As the Family Law Program Assistant, you’ll serve as a key connector within the program. Much of your time will be spent communicating with clients, coordinating services, and ensuring that information flows clearly between clients, attorneys, and partner organizations.
You’ll help clients access legal services, complete intakes, schedule appointments, and follow up on next steps. You’ll also support program administration, maintain accurate records, and contribute to reporting and community engagement efforts.
This role requires both attention to detail and a strong sense of empathy. You’ll be supporting individuals navigating high-stress situations, and your ability to create a calm, respectful, and organized experience will be essential.
Bilingual English/Spanish, English/Chuukese or English/Russian proficiency is also highly valued, as many clients served through the Family Law program speak one of those as their primary language.
While all staff at CCVLP experience some level of flexibility to work remotely, the expectations of this position and its limited hours mean this position is primarily in-person. The expectation is that the program assistant is present during walk-in hours, which are currently 18 hours/week.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for individuals seeking family law services
- Conduct client intakes, eligibility screenings, and maintain case records
- Schedule and coordinate client appointments with volunteer attorneys
- Communicate with clients to provide updates, resources, and next steps
- Ensure language access for clients throughout their engagement with CCVLP
- Support collaboration and warm hand-offs with community partners and external programs
- Coordinate referrals with other legal services and community organizations
- Maintain accurate data and assist with reporting and program tracking
- Support walk-in services by greeting and assisting clients in the office
- Collaborate with program leadership on workflow, capacity, and service delivery
- Contribute to community outreach and educational materials using a client-centered, plain language approach
- Participate in ongoing race equity and trauma-informed advocacy trainings
We’d Like to See
- Experience in client-facing roles such as case management, social services, legal support, or customer service
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage compassionately and clearly with diverse clients and to stay grounded under pressure
- Strong organizational skills and comfort using technology to manage tasks and case files
- Ability to collaborate with attorneys, clients, staff, and external partners
- Familiarity with trauma-informed and equity-centered service approaches
- Bilingual English/Spanish, English/Chuukese or English/Russian proficiency, with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with clients whose first language is not English
- A commitment to equitable access to justice
