Description of Position:
The External Affairs Coordinator leads Bridgercare’s legislative, media, and community partnership work. This position serves as the primary liaison during legislative sessions, manages communications with policymakers, media, and coalition partners, and ensures Bridgercare’s external voice reflects its mission and values. The External Affairs Coordinator strengthens relationships with community partners, advances advocacy initiatives, coordinates public communications, and oversees strategic community engagement.
Hourly Rate and Benefits:
- Wage Range: $24.20 - $36.30/hr
- 32-40 hours per week

Position Responsibilities:
Legislative & Advocacy
- Serve as Bridgercare’s liaison during the state legislative session.
- Track and analyze legislation and policy developments that impact Bridgercare and its patients.
- Provide testimony at hearings and prepare advocacy materials as needed.
- Coordinate with coalition partners to advocate for supportive policies and collective action.
- Update internal leadership and staff through regular briefings.
- Support legislative workgroup activities, including meeting preparation & facilitation.
- Coordinate advocacy efforts with staff, partners and volunteers
Media & Communications
- Act as Bridgercare’s primary media contact including developing and executing press and media outreach strategies.
- Draft, edit, and distribute press releases with approval from the Executive Director.
- Prepare the Executive Director and staff for media interviews.
- Collaborate with the Development Team to create messaging for social media and e-news updates related to legislative, advocacy, and messaging priorities.
- Support design and implementation of social media campaigns, including promotion of accurate information about birth control and sexual and reproductive healthcare.
Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Manage Bridgercare’s community partnerships and represent the organization in coalitions, networks, and advocacy groups.
- Coordinate and support the Montana Sexual and Reproductive Health Collective, applying AssetBased Community Development principles.
- Participate in community events, including tabling and educational presentations, to build visibility and trust.
- Educate and present at community events on Bridgercare’s political and advocacy work.
Organizational Coordination
- Collaborate closely with communications, development, and program staff to ensure alignment of external messaging and advocacy priorities.
- Maintain accurate records of legislative tracking, coalition activities, and partner efforts.
- Support grant- and contract-related communication, reporting, and documentation.

- Excellent written and verbal communication, including public speaking and media relations.
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively across sectors.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred:
- Experience in healthcare, reproductive health, or nonprofit advocacy.
- Familiarity with Montana legislative processes and local coalition work.
- Experience managing social media campaigns and creating public-facing content.
- Experience in grant or contract reporting.
Remote Work Eligibility:
- Remote Position - Position duties do lend themselves to fully remote work
- 100% remote work eligible
