Description
The Development Director is a fiduciary & strategic fundraising role responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the organization’s charitable foundation. This role oversees individual giving, major gifts, institutional support, campaigns, and donor stewardship, and works closely with executive leadership and the board. Oversees the professional investment management of resources and serves as the registered agent in the State of Texas, responsible to work in a team environment on daily operations, policy/procedure development, and additional duties as assigned by the Foundation Chairman. The Daedalian Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization holding the highest rating (four stars) with Charity Navigator and the highest rating with Guidestar—Platinum Transparency. Both organizations fairly grade charitable organizations across the 501(c)3 spectrum.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Leadership
Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy in conjunction with Foundation Trustee guidance that aligns with organizational goals
Establish annual fundraising targets and monitor progress
Lead annual appeals, campaigns, and special fundraising initiatives
Administrate a scholarship program led by the Foundation and assisted by a joint board committee
Individual, Corporate partnership & Major Gifts
Build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors
Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors through personalized engagement
Partner with executive leadership and board members on donor relationships and solicitations
Grants & Institutional Giving
Identify, pursue, and steward foundation and corporate funding opportunities
Oversee proposal development, reporting, and compliance
Board & Stakeholder Engagement
Support board fundraising efforts through training, tools, and strategic guidance
Prepare fundraising reports and dashboards for leadership and board review
Coordinates all grants and fundraising efforts including donor requests, estate planning and endowments.
Individual & Major Gifts
Build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors

Partner with executive leadership and board members on donor relationships and solicitations
Grants & Institutional Giving
Identify, pursue, and steward foundation and corporate funding opportunities

Board & Stakeholder Engagement
Support board fundraising efforts through training, tools, and strategic guidance
Prepare fundraising reports and dashboards for leadership and board review
Represent the organization with donors, partners, and community stakeholders
Business Operations
Coordinates and works with the Order of Daedalians National Adjutant in collaboration with employees in pursuit of mission accomplishment.
Works with the National Adjutant on budgeted transfers which supports programs & shared operational expenses.
Presents the budget to the Board of Trustees and tracks progress quarterly.
Ensure accurate donor tracking and reporting (CRM required; Salesforce preferred)|
Oversee donor acknowledgment and stewardship processes
Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, programs, and communications
Oversees the Foundation assets & grows assets for program use through normal fundraising

Requirements
Required
7+ years of nonprofit fundraising or development experience
Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field.
Proven success securing major gifts and institutional funding
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
Experience working with boards and senior leadership
CRM proficiency (Salesforce or similar)
