Position Summary
The Development Coordinator supports the Executive Director and Director of Development by providing high-quality administrative assistance and hands-on support for fundraising initiatives, donor engagement, and events. This role is ideal for someone who believes in the power of generosity and wants to grow their career in nonprofit fundraising and philanthropy.
In this role, you will be the organizational backbone of our development operations—ensuring donor communications are timely and heartfelt, that our database reflects accurate and actionable information, and that every donor interaction reflects our values of dignity, compassion, and excellence.
Time Allocation: Fundraising & Donor Engagement ~40% | Events & Campaign Support ~30% | Systems & Operations ~30%
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $41,600–$46,800 annually, non-exempt (eligible for overtime pay)

Requirements
Required:
- Passion for fundraising, philanthropy, and making a difference through generosity and compassionate giving
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build authentic, trust-based relationships
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail under pressure
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail) and comfort learning new technology platforms
- Commitment to City Lights' relational approach and core values of dignity, compassion, community, and excellence
- 1–2 years of experience in nonprofit work, development/fundraising support, relationship-based customer service, marketing, sales, or related field
- Valid Oklahoma driver's license and current auto liability insurance
Preferred:
- Prior experience in nonprofit development, donor relations, or fundraising
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, Nonprofit Management, or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered)
- Experience with Salesforce for Nonprofits, Canva, Mailchimp, or similar donor management and communications platforms (willingness and aptitude to learn on the job is equally valued)
- Experience working with populations experiencing homelessness, poverty, or other vulnerabilities
Work Environment, Schedule & Physical Demands
This position is primarily office-based at our Tulsa location, with occasional off-site event support in the community. The typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends required for fundraising events, donor gatherings, and community activities (advance notice provided whenever possible).
The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (for event materials, supplies, etc.) and perform typical office activities such as sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and light lifting. Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
A background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check will be required prior to employment.
