- Development Coordinator
Description
The Development Coordinator supports the organization’s fundraising efforts by planning, implementing, and executing a comprehensive development strategy. This position is responsible for coordinating individual, corporate, and foundation giving efforts; supporting grant research and submissions; and assisting with donor cultivation, stewardship, and database management.
The Development Coordinator plays a key role in fundraising events, tracking fundraising data, preparing reports, obtaining sponsorships, collecting in-kind donations, and maintaining accurate donor records. Working closely with organizational leadership and the Communications and Events Coordinator, this role helps ensure fundraising efforts are well-coordinated, effective, and aligned with the mission and goals of Calm Waters.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Drafts, edits, and submits grant proposals and reports in collaboration with organizational leadership.
- Identifies new grant opportunities for the agency.
- Prepares and submits United Way applications, data prep, and analysis.
- Identifies and develops new individual, corporate, and foundation prospects.
- Develops strong working relationships with local partners and donors.
- Maintains customer/donor confidence and protects operations by maintaining confidentiality.
- Oversees and manages the Charlotte Lankard Giving Society and donor stewardship activities.
- Identifies and collects in-kind donations for the organization and for special events.
- Responsible for gift entry and gift acknowledgements.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the Network for Good donor database (noting all gifts of cash, pledges or in-kind).
- Responsible for timely donor acknowledgment of giving, and communications, as needed, including reminders of pledges or other gifts.
- Supports donor stewardship and cultivation activities.
- Assists with the planning, execution, and follow-up of fundraising events, including donor communications, sponsorships, and gift processing.
- Tracks fundraising progress and prepares reports to support planning, evaluation, and board reporting.
- Attends other nonprofit events for support and research.
- Assists in the compilation of the Development/PR/Marketing board committee report.
- Adheres to all Calm Waters policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and/or experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. (Four years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.)
Additional job requirements:
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Clearance of background check.
Preferred job requirements:
- 2 years of grant writing experience.
- Experience with donor databases.
- Experience in Adobe Suite, Canva, or other design software.
